Partners in Radiation Management, Ltd. Company d/b/a R.M. Partnership is a partnership
between two medical physicists, Louis
K. Wagner, Ph.D. and Benjamin R. Archer, Ph.D., dedicated
to the safe uses of fluoroscopy and avoidance of injuries to
patients and personnel. Dr. Wagner is a professor of radiological
physics at The University of Texas-Houston Medical School. Dr.
Archer is a professor of radiological physics at
The Baylor College of Medicine. The careers of both these
physicists have been dedicated to the management of radiation
in medical radiological imaging.
Their program, Minimizing Risks
from Fluoroscopic X Rays, is the outgrowth of their educational
experiences in a large hospital district for which they jointly
serve as radiation safety officers. It was developed in response
to the 1994
FDA advisory about radiation injuries from fluoroscopy.
With the expanding applications
of fluoroscopic radiation, the challenges for radiation management
increase. Many patients have been seriously injured from extended exposure
to fluoroscopy and some personnel have experienced radiation-induced
cataracts and skin injuries. This popular credentialing program
summarizes fluoroscopic radiation management in ten commandments
and is now in its fourth edition. This latest edition has been redesigned to better reflect modern aspects of fluoroscopic technology and terminology. Included in the program packet are instructions on
establishing your self-administered credentialing program, instructions
on obtaining CME and CE credits, an instruction manual, and tests.
